Cristina and Claudio Latini are a musical couple from Brazil. Claudio is a composer, singer and guitar player. Cristina writes the lyrics and sing. They have lived in Norway since 1982. During this time they have performed and toured with many of Norways leading musicians. The have released the following records and CDs: Cacau (2004), Sol e Cachaça (1988), Cor de Dendê (1990), Anjos do Brasil (1994), Mala e Cuia (1998), Colection: «Sol e Cachaça» and Cor de Dendê » (2001)
185 millions of Brazilians sing all over their country, a territory of 8,5 mill. km2,. And because this country is so rich and varied, both geographically and humanly, the Brazilian music became also very rich and difficult to bescribe. We can try to taste part of this musical variety, but it is impossible to reach it all.
Fusion has always been an essential element of popular music, the fresh blood that renews and enriches the recent history of Brazilian music.

Claudio Latini ”Receita Para A Vida”
Arne Berg.
Brazil meets jazz in Norway under Paolo Vinnaccia’s masterful direction.
Claudio Latini’s eighth album is his most daring project up until now!
And a huge step forward for the musician who arrived in Norway in the early eighties and took Oslo by storm during the carnival in 1983 (“Samba’n er løs”)
Bugge Wesseltoft, Bendik Hofset, Jacob Young, Håkon Graf and Sverre Indris Joner are among the Norwegian musicians, but also the Madagascan guitar magician, Dozzy Njava and Claudio’s compatriot, Celio de Carvalho contribute to the whole, and when the production is directed by Paolo Vinaccia one realizes that this is neither samba, jazz nor electronica but all three at the same time and even more.
Claudio Latini’s music is more than Brazilian. He has lived in Norway since the early eighties and this country has made its mark on him yet at the same time he has kept a close watch on what is happening in Brazil - probably the most vital music nation in the world today.
It is so easy to end up in a box where he is easily accessible to us Brazilian, samba musician, carnival aficionado. But Claudio Latini just discards the box and moves on, going his own way.
Of course his new disc is Brazilian and it is just as assuredly jazz, but it rather looks ahead and not backward. Claudio Latini does not regard either Brazil or jazz with nostalgia but instead grasps everything that characterizes him both past and present (seemingly looking at it in wonder) and so concludes “This I can do something with”. This is Claudio Latini’s new album musical and full of surprise with a voice that springs forth and takes the lead in technological playfulness with a Brazilian rhythm basis. This voice belongs to Claudio Latini. I shall be surprised if there is a better disc than this one in Norway this year!” (Arne Berg, NRK P2)
